How to Get a Replacement Medicare Card in Australia
Medicare card replacement
Lost, stolen, damaged, or never-received Medicare card? Services Australia issues replacements free of charge — and the fastest way is via your myGov account online, which also lets you access a temporary digital card immediately. This guide covers all three replacement methods.
Three ways to get a replacement Medicare card
- Online (fastest) — log in to myGov, link Medicare if not already, and request a replacement. You'll also get an immediate digital Medicare card you can use on your phone via the Express Plus Medicare app.
- Phone — call Medicare on 13 20 11. Have your Medicare number ready if you know it (find on a previous Medicare statement).
- In person — visit any Service Centre that offers Medicare. Bring photo ID and your Medicare number if known.
Information you'll need
